Complications
-
Leg ulcers:
A leg ulcer will usually occur near the inside of the ankle, but can
be anywhere below the knee. Symptoms of this typically include a
red, open, draining, non-healing wound in a swollen leg.
-
Venous insufficiency:
Varicose veins can cause chronic venous insufficiency. They
can be painful causing your legs to swell and feel fatigued.
-
Bleeding and Deep vein thrombosis: They can also bleed and contribute to blood clots. In
some cases pulmonary embolism may develop after deep vein
thrombosis.
